the new jersey casino is likely to reopen in July

According to a report from ABC News, casino owners have planned an internal guide. Joe Lupo, president of Hard Rock Atlantic City, told the ABC his casino would require masks and had hand sanitation stations located throughout the property. He also said that his party has upgraded other parts of the casino that easily exceed the standards set by regulators.

“Our air filtration is better than most hospitals,” said Lupo.

The announcement came just hours before Murphy held a briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he gave the green light for sports and personal care businesses to immediately reopen to BAMBUQQ.

Murphy has been one of the country’s strictest governors. The announcement comes more than three months after he forced brick and mortar casinos to close on March 16. The reopening will mark the end of a 108-day close, one of the country’s longest gaming closures.

Given how tight Murphy has been with closings, it is unlikely that poker games will flourish in New Jersey at the start of their re-opening.

In Las Vegas, MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment chose to close their poker rooms at the start of their reopening on June 4. Only recently, rooms were opened with severe restrictions at Caesars Palace and Bellagio. Two of Atlantic City’s most popular poker rooms, Borgata and Harrah’s, are owned by two of the gaming giants.

Nor would it be surprising to see Murphy take a page from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s playbook. Whitmer will not allow poker rooms to reopen early in the process of re-opening the Michigan gaming market. He has yet to announce a date when Detroit’s three commercial casinos can resume business.
